The Central Europe Institute of Asian Studies (CEIAS) co-hosted the Central and Eastern Europe-Asia Forum with the Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) on Monday and Tuesday.

According to a press release by the Taipei Representative Office in Bratislava, the cross-strait situation and the threat of Chinese disinformation to Taiwan received significant attention at the forum. Four panels in the forum involved topics related to Taiwan, including Taiwan-EU. cooperation under President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德), cooperation in security and defense, global supply chain resilience, and the EU's Indo-Pacific strategy.

Taiwan's think tank scholars participated in panel discussions to analyze Taiwan's contributions to global economic security and supply chains and shared how it is addressing the multifaceted threat of Chinese disinformation, receiving enthusiastic responses.

Taiwan’s Representative to Slovakia David Lee (李南陽) also attended the forum as a panelist, discussing Taiwan-EU relations under Lai's leadership. Lee said the new government under Lai will continue Taiwan’s current foreign policy to promote relationships with the U.S., the EU, and other like-minded countries.

Lee also said Taiwan seeks European support for participation in international organizations. He stated that Taiwan's growing investment in the Central European region has a positive impact on Taiwan-EU ties and that the relationship between the two sides has become increasingly important over time.
