On Wednesday, the Switzerland Taipei Economic and Cultural Delegation and the U.S. embassy organized the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) Workshop in Bern. That’s according to a press release by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

The workshop focused on the crucial topic of "Enhancing Economic Resilience and Reorganizing Supply Chains," bringing together policymakers and industry leaders from Taiwan, the United States, and Switzerland to tackle urgent concerns related to supply chain security and economic resilience.

Taiwan’s Representative in Switzerland David Wei-Feng Huang (黃偉峰)and U.S. Ambassador Scott C. Miller opened the workshop. In his remarks, Huang emphasized the need for like-minded nations to collaborate, safeguard supply chains, and defend the international rules-based order to work together to move towards a future of mutual benefit and prosperity.

Deputy Foreign Minister and EU Envoy Roy Chun Lee (李淳) in his speech highlighted China’s use of economic tactics as weapons and urged businesses to assess political risks. He called for democratic unity against authoritarian economic threats amidst geopolitical challenges.

The Foreign Ministry stated that GCTF was established in 2015 by Taiwan and the U.S. to serve as a platform for sharing experiences and capacity building. Since 2021, it has expanded overseas, enhancing cooperation between Taiwan and like-minded countries worldwide.
