According to the Coast Guard Administration (CGA) in a press release Monday morning, two more fishermen have been rescued after another fishing vessel incident, further heightening tensions between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait due to recent boat accidents.

The CGA stated that the Kinmen Patrol received a public report at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, requesting assistance locating two fishermen in a portable watercraft. The vessel had launched from Xibian Beach at approximately 11:30 a.m. and was near Beiding Island when they lost contact with shore at roughly 3 p.m. The Coast Guard said that it had quickly launched coastal search and rescue and contacted the China Coast Guard for support.

At about 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, family members received notifications from the fishermen saying that their boat had run out of fuel and they were drifting outside Fujian, China’s Weitou Port. They were found by the Chinese Coast Guard shortly afterward in good health and are currently being repatriated.
