Eswatini’s Prime Minister Russell Dlamini together with his delegation arrived in Taiwan on Monday. According to the Foreign Ministry, the delegation is visiting at the invitation of the Taiwan government and is scheduled to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁).
The group will also visit CPC Corporation’s Taoyuan refinery, and meet with CECI Engineering Consultants, Inc. and other businesses to discuss bilateral cooperation projects such as the construction of strategic oil tanks in Eswatini. The ministry adds that the delegation will also be participating in investment seminars to meet with Taiwanese companies interested in investing in Eswatini.
Prime Minister Dlamini is accompanied by his wife on this trip and the delegation also includes important cabinet members such as the Natural Resources and Energy Minister and the Prime Minister's Deputy Minister.
Eswatini is one of Taiwan’s 12 remaining diplomatic allies and has voiced support for Taiwan’s international participation at various international forums, such as the recent Conference of the Parties (COP28) UN Climate Change Conference.
