All 23 Taiwanese nationals in Haiti, including embassy staff, mission personnel and their families, businessmen, and overseas Taiwanese are safe, said the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

According to the ministry, Taiwan's embassy in Haiti is operating normally and maintains close communication with local law enforcement and other foreign embassies. It says that there is currently no immediate need for complete evacuation. The ministry pointed out that the airport in Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince is a prime target for gang attacks and that traveling to the airport poses significant safety risks.

The Foreign Ministry has issued a “red” travel advisory for the country, advising Taiwanese citizens against traveling to Haiti. Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Director-General Cheng Li-cheng  (鄭力城) says the ministry will continue to closely monitor the situation in Haiti and is ready to respond to any potential changes to ensure the safety of embassy staff and Taiwanese nationals.
