Digital Minister Audrey Tang (唐鳳) delivered a speech on pre-recorded video at the 3rd Summit for Democracy held in Seoul on Monday.
According to a press release by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday, Tang highlighted Taiwan's successful strategies in countering cyber attacks and cognitive warfare through the use of co-creation and technology. Tang emphasized that a transparent and open democracy is the most effective approach to addressing the ethical, political, and social challenges posed by emerging technologies.
The Foreign Ministry pointed out that Taiwan successfully completed its presidential election this year, once again demonstrating to the international community the maturity and stability of Taiwan’s democratic politics. It added that through participation in the summit, Taiwan shared with the world the practical use of emerging technologies to strengthen democratic resilience, and engaged in the global community based on principles of professionalism, pragmatism, and contribution.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jeff Liu (劉永健) said Taiwan will continue to safeguard the values of democracy and freedom and collaborate with other like-minded countries to maintain democracy in the region and worldwide.
