Taiwan's National Central Library (NCL) has signed two cooperation agreements with the Korean Studies Institute (KSI) on Wednesday.

According to a press release by the NCL, it has respectively signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement and another agreement for the Union Catalog of Chinese Rare Books with the KSI. The agreements aim to strengthen cooperation and exchange between both sides in the digitalization of ancient texts and document preservation.

NCL Director General Wang Han-Ching (王涵青) said in her welcoming remarks that the comprehensive agreement has made the NCL the KSI’s 29th cooperative partner. Additionally, the KSI has become the 94th cooperative institution to utilize the union catalog. She expressed anticipation for joint efforts in the maintenance and preservation of cultural heritage.

KSI President Chung Jong-Sup said in his remarks that the KSI has not only been promoting the preservation and research of Korean cultural heritage in recent years but has also extended its development into issues such as digitalization. He said he looks forward to deepening academic ties between Taiwan and South Korea during his visit to the NCL and Academia Sinica this time.
