Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) conveyed on Monday his sincerest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the terrorist attack in Moscow. During an interview, Chen said he was saddened by the news of the deaths and injuries of innocent people due to the deadly attack.
Last Friday, gunmen stormed a concert hall in Moscow and killed more than 130 people. The Islamic State group (IS) has claimed responsibility and said that four of its members carried out the assault.
Chen adds that there are no Taiwanese nationals currently affected by the incident. However, with the on-going conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the region remains unstable. Chen points out that the Foreign Ministry has urged citizens to refrain from traveling to Russia unless absolutely necessary. He underscores that heightened vigilance is advised for those who must travel due to business, study, or other reasons.
Chen reminds Taiwanese nationals in Russia who encounter difficulties or require emergency assistance to contact the Foreign Ministry’s Emergency Assistance for Overseas Taiwanese or Taiwan’s representative office in Russia to obtain assistance.
