Vice President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim’s (蕭美琴) tour of several European countries at the invitation of the European Parliament and several think tanks has been a success. In response to media questions on Monday, Presidential spokesperson Olivia Lin (林聿禪) stated that Hsiao hopes Europe can better understand Taiwan's firm position in maintaining regional peace and stability from her visits.

Lin said that Hsiao exchanged views, delivered speeches, and met with dignitaries in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, and other countries. She pointed out that the interaction between Taiwan and Europe has increased significantly in many fields in recent years and Hsiao’s trip is to emphasize that Taiwan will continue to deepen cooperation and cooperate to jointly safeguard global and regional security and prosperity.

As for whether Hsiao is inviting European parties to attend her May 20 inauguration ceremony, Lin assured that the point of her trip is to increase dialogue with democratic countries. The upcoming inauguration affair is being actively planned by the Foreign Ministry which will fully disclose details to the public soon.
