The Taiwan Technical Mission in Indonesia taught a workshop on crop pest control and management technology earlier this month attended by farmers and local officials. The session was held in Humbang Hasundutan Regency in North Sumatra province.

Workshop leader and technician Chiu Chien-hsiang (邱建翔) from the Taiwan Technical Mission introduced common types of crop pests and methods for prevention and control, including selecting disease-resistant crop varieties, disinfecting seedbeds, removing diseased plants, and pesticide use. Chiu also taught participants to make homemade insect repellents using edible oil and detergent, which can effectively deter aphids, red spiders, scale insects, and rust diseases that threaten crop growth.

The Taiwan Technical Mission is run by the Taipei-based International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF), which promotes socio-economic development and economic relations and offers humanitarian assistance in developing partner countries.
