Labor Minister Hsu Ming-chun (許銘春) on Wednesday provided updates on the Taiwan-India Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on labor cooperation. During an interview, Hsu stated that as prescribed by the law, the Labor Ministry already submitted the signed MOU to the Cabinet yesterday afternoon for their review.

Taiwan and India signed the MOU on February 16, with the Foreign Ministry confirming the completion of signed documents on February 26. The MOU aims to introduce Indian migrant workers to fill labor shortages and provide employers with an additional source country for migrant workers.

Hsu adds that after the Cabinet review, the MOU will be sent to the Legislature for approval. She goes on to say that the Labor Ministry will also hold discussions with various industries in Taiwan to understand their talent requirements prior to holding consultation and working-level meetings with the Indian side. The number of workers, industries to be opened, and other related matters will only be determined during the working-level meetings.
