Taiwan’s recent massive earthquake triggered condolences and support from allied nations and like-minded countries.
The U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said at a press conference on Wednesday, that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) staff will closely monitor earthquake and tsunami warnings and collaborate with the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) if needed.
Additionally, bipartisan U.S. Congress members, such as Senator Jim Risch and Congressman Brad Sherman and other representatives extended support for Taiwan's recovery. Risch called on the United States and all of Taiwan's global partners to support Taiwan during this extraordinary period, including assisting Taiwan in its recovery.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau affirmed that Canada is ready to provide support and has engaged with Taiwanese officials. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara also conveyed condolences, hoping for swift reconstruction.
