President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) visited the Police College to inspect the recently established educational center for cybercrime investigation and attend the opening ceremony of the college’s newly built student dormitory on Tuesday.

In her speech, Tsai recalled her attendance at the college’s 75th-anniversary celebration in 2020. She highlighted the institution’s continuous progress over the past four years and emphasized the crucial role the police, firefighters, and coast guard play in maintaining social stability and national security.

She expressed gratitude to the police for dedicating themselves to the rescue efforts following the earthquake that occurred earlier last week that led to 13 deaths and 6 missing.

The establishment of the educational center is to help the police enhance digital literacy and master information security technologies, aiming to develop more effective strategies to counter emerging cybercrimes. President Tsai says her administration has dedicated resources to raising officers’ salaries and improving related facilities in hopes to provide greater support to the police and firefighters.
