Premier-designate Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced the second wave of cabinet personnel updates in a press conference on Friday, which includes changes to the Interior, Transportation, Justice, Education, and Culture Ministries.
Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung Liu Shyh-fang (劉世芳) will be appointed the Interior Minister. Cho emphasized that the three-term legislator and Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General has considerable experience in communication and coordination between administrative units. He said that he hopes Liu will demonstrate her diversified coordination skills to implement policy and enable the administrative team’s steady forward movement.
The Transportation Ministry will see Legislature Secretary-General Li Meng-yen (李孟諺) step up to lead. Cho stated that Li communicated and coordinated across ministries during his tenure as secretary-general. He pointed out that his communication skills and expertise in water conservancy projects can add resilience to Taiwan's transportation infrastructure to promote a safer and more secure system.
Attorney General Cheng Ming-chien (鄭銘謙) will step into the role of Justice Minister. Cho said that Cheng has a considerable understanding of the judiciary system. Cheng will be entrusted to coordinate prosecutors and police to maintain public order, handle major national disinformation, and fully crack down on crime.
National Sun Yat-sen University President Cheng Ying-Yao (鄭英耀) will be appointed to the position of Education Minister. Cho stated that Cheng has served as the director of the Kaohsiung City Education Bureau twice and is committed to promoting bilingual learning, cultivating international competition for college students, and enhancing the scientific research momentum of universities. He hopes the Education Ministry will provide young people with a high-quality learning environment under Cheng’s leadership.
Taking over as Culture Minister is noted writer Li Yuan (李遠), also known by his pen name Hsiao Yeh (小野). Li has been deeply involved in the art and literary circles for many years. He has not only written numerous works, but also appeared in movies, TV shows, and stage plays.
