Hualien County has been rocked by continuous earthquakes from Monday night to Tuesday morning, leading to the collapse of two buildings in Hualien. The Hualien County government has issued a statement announcing the suspension of work and classes for Tuesday in response to the ongoing seismic activity.
According to the Central Weather Administration, the largest of these quakes was a magnitude 6.3 event that occurred at 2:32 a.m. Tuesday, with a depth of 5.5 kilometers. The quake registered a seismic intensity of 5-minus in Hualien County. Another significant tremor, measuring 5.7 in magnitude, struck at 5:31 a.m., with Hualien experiencing a stronger intensity of 5-plus.
