According to recent statistics of 2023, the number of visits between Taiwan and South Korea, with almost 1.7 million, rebounded 70% back to the pre-pandemic level. Encouraged by this recovery, the Taiwan Visitors Association (TVA) and the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) have designated 2024 as crucial for tourism revival, setting a target of 3 million shared tourists between the two countries.

The “37th TVA/KATA Taiwan-Korea Tourism Exchange Conference” held alternately in both nations, convened in Chiayi on Thursday drawing significant participation. The Korean delegation included 79 representatives from 43 travel agencies and 3 airlines. Taiwan was represented by 130 officials from local governments, aviation, travel, hospitality, and other tourism sectors.

In a press release, Taiwan's Tourism Administration stated the conference analyzed current tourism trends and marketing strategies between the two countries. Discussions focused on understanding the consumption patterns and travel preferences of the "MZ generation" (those born between 1981-2010 in South Korea) from the perspectives of local cities and industries.
