Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) says he believes the newly announced national security team to be a strong pick, deserving of high hopes. With countries around the world concerned about the security of Indo-Pacific matters, Chen hopes there will be peace and stability in the future.
The newly announced officials included Wellington Koo (顧立雄) as defense minister, and Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) as foreign minister, which were both considered to be experienced picks. Many countries are concerned about the situation in the Taiwan Strait, East China Sea, and South China Sea– with the belief that stability in the Taiwan Strait region is paramount to global prosperity.
Chen went on to say that, while he is worried about Chinese expansion, he hopes for good communication between the two countries. Both Taiwan and China should work together with the rest of the world to maintain peace, and prosperity for all.
