Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine (LDLU) members visited Radio Taiwan International (Rti) on Saturday, meeting with Rti Chairperson Cheryl Lai (賴秀如). The two sides discussed broadcasting exchanges, media resilience, and Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.

The LDLU established in 2015, is a youth-led political organization promoting democratic and liberal ideas in Ukraine and internationally. The visiting delegation included LDLU Vice President Yevheniia Fedotova, LDLU East Asia Office representative and Ukrainian Voices Editor Maria Makarovych, and Right Room Foundation Chair and Ukrainian war volunteer and reconstruction expert Uliana Dzurliak. The visiting members also took part in interviews for Rti’s Ukrainian language programs.

During the meeting, Chairperson Lai noted that Rti has been broadcasting daily shortwave coverage of the Ukraine war and Taiwan's perspectives, responding to Ukrainian listeners' needs. Rti also established a Ukrainian language Facebook page (Міжнародне Радіо Тайваню Україна). Lai says Rti looks forward to collaborating with the LDLU to establish relationships with the Ukrainian government, civil society organizations, and media outlets, allowing more information and support from Taiwan to reach Ukraine.

Chairperson Lai says the U.S. Congress's recent military aid package to Ukraine and Taiwan demonstrates Taiwan and Ukraine’s shared democratic values. She says Rti will do its utmost to uphold democratic values, continue to enrich its Ukrainian language reporting and closely monitor the situation in Ukraine.

LDLU representatives welcomed further cooperation including podcasts and radio programs. They say that Ukrainian people have become increasingly interested in Taiwan in recent years and hope that through cooperation, more Ukrainians will come to know the real Taiwan.
