The Foreign Ministry of the Czech Republic announced a donation of US$150,000 to assist with Taiwan’s post-disaster reconstruction following the Hualien earthquake. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry expressed its sincere gratitude today, and emphasized that Taiwan will continue working to strengthen its relationship with the Czech Republic.
The Foreign Ministry says that Taiwan and the Czech Republic are partners that have continued cooperating and contributing to one another on the global stage. Previously in 2021, Taiwan provided the Czech Republic with supplies including 1.35 million medical masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Czech Republic donated 30,000 doses of vaccines to Taiwan.
Immediately following the earthquake in Hualien, officials including Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, President of the Senate Milos Vystrcil, and President of the Chamber of Deputies Marketa Pekarova Adamova offered condolences and expressed concern for Taiwan. The Czech Republic’s decision to provide assistance for post-disaster reconstruction further conveys its value of the relationship it has built with Taiwan.
