Songshan Cultural and Creative Park (SCCP) unveils a new stamp collection activity based on its diverse ecology observed over the last 5 years. Working in collaboration with Zhishan Ecological Garden, the activity invites the public to learn about wildlife in Taipei’s backyard via integrated activities in both parks.
The SCCP, together with Zhishan Ecological Garden, has conducted monthly ecological surveys since 2019. Through their studies, they’ve discovered that over 100 plant species, nearly 50 insect species, and 30 to 45 species of bird are observable in the park each year. Their observations included not only more common species such as herons, kingfishers, and Taiwan blue magpies but also indicator species which require a high level of environmental health and stability.
From May 13 until June 16, visitors will be able to observe preserved specimens, nest samples, multimedia audio and video, and participate in the “New Greenism: Taipei Biological Encyclopedia Stamp Collection'' activity, which focuses on demonstrating the park’s efforts in conservation, education and the results of previously implemented sustainable development goals. Of the 16 commemorative stamps, five are designed in two parts – one which can be stamped at SCCP, and the other obtained by visiting Zhishan Ecological Gardens. The five specially layered stamp designs only display the full picture when stamped together, symbolizing the years of friendship and cooperation between the two parks.
