Tourism associations from Taiwan and Argentina signed a cooperation agreement this week, aiming to enhance exchanges between tourism operators and increase the number of visitors between the two countries.
The Taiwan Visitors Association (TVA) and the Argentine Federation of Associations of Travel and Tourism (FAEVYT) held the signing ceremony in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. Taiwan's representative to Argentina, Florencia Miao-hung Hsie (謝妙宏), witnessed the event. TVA head Yeh Chu-lan (葉菊蘭) participated via video conference, while FAEVYT President Andrés Deyá signed in person.
Deyá says the agreement offers new market opportunities for Argentine tourism. Deyá added that Taiwanese tourists stay longer in Argentina than tourists from other countries with popular destinations including Buenos Aires, Salta, and wine regions. He also welcomed more Taiwanese visitors.
Yeh says there is significant potential for growth in visitor exchanges between Taiwan and Argentina and expressed hope that professional exchanges between tourism industries would raise awareness of each destination and boost economic benefits.
Hsieh invited Argentine tourism operators to explore Taiwan's ecotourism market through travel and study programs which she says could facilitate experience sharing and best practices between Taiwan and Argentina.
