President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) received a delegation from the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of North America (TCCNA) on Friday morning to thank them for attending his inauguration and for their tireless efforts to promote Taiwan and its business reputation abroad.
The TCCNA is a nonprofit industrial and commercial association of Taiwanese business people who have immigrated to North America. They regularly engage in advocacy activities such as its annual “Washington Door Knocking Tour,” during which they visit the U.S. Congress and lobby for pro-Taiwan policies.
Speaking to the delegation, President Lai described his intent to support industry development and pursue bilateral investment protection agreements with democratic nations. He emphasised that his main goal is to enable Taiwanese businessmen to establish themselves both domestically and internationally, while simultaneously encouraging local companies to remain in Taiwan and expand their investments.
Lai pointed out that the TCCNA, the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises R.O.C., and the Association of Chain and Franchise Promotion signed a memorandum of cooperation this past year. They pledged to strengthen resource sharing and explore more diversified business opportunities in order to enhance the competitiveness of Taiwanese enterprises.
