Overseas Taiwanese, civil society organizations, and medical groups once again joined forces to protest on Sunday, the eve of the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva. Event organizer Hsieh Chin (謝瑾) said that they demand fairness and justice and will continue to speak out until Taiwan is granted participation with observer status in the WHO.

11 of Taiwan’s allies have also submitted a proposal to support Taiwan’s inclusion where Taiwan’s membership will be reviewed on Monday during the WHA plenary session. The conference chairman will ultimately rule whether Taiwan can attend.

In addition to continuing to strive to participate in the WHA, Taiwan is holding bilateral or multilateral talks with various countries in Geneva during the conference. Health Minister Chiu Tai-yuan (邱泰源) personally led and communicated with each country during the meetings. The meetings were organized by the Health Ministry’s action team on Sunday afternoon local time.
