Fresh graduates may be happy to hear of the positive hiring trends revealed by online job banks in recent days as they enter the job market.
Online job bank, Yes123, divulged that 97% of businesses plan to hire fresh graduates this year. It also determined that this year's average starting salary for fresh graduates with a bachelor's degree is NT$31,136 (US$968), marking the fourth consecutive year of growth. Compared to last year's NT$30,471 (US$947), this shows an increase of 2.2%, and marks the highest starting salary in about 11 years. The findings were based on a survey of 1,023 valid questionnaires sent to various companies.
Yes123 spokesperson Yang Tsung-pin (楊宗斌) explained that post-pandemic economic recovery has reversed salary declines, with employers keen to address labor shortages and attract digital talent. As businesses rebound and expand, industries with the most openings are in the catering, tourism, hospitality, and aviation sectors.
Online human resource consultant 104 Job Bank corroborated the findings. Marketing Director Chang Pao-ling (張寶玲) said that a record-high 600,000 full-time job opportunities are currently available on their site. Chang added that the pandemic has also boosted the popularity of remote work, with job opportunities for digital nomads rising fivefold to 7,500.
