The Dapeng Bay Bridge in Donggang is one of the many scenic highlights in Pingtung, as it is Taiwan's first bridge that can rise up and drop down. It is often visited by locals and tourists alike for the bridge-raising show, which takes place during the afternoons of every weekend.
However, visitors had a very different viewing experience last Sunday. Spectators at the scene were puzzled when the bridge got stuck halfway, neither rising nor descending.
Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area Headquarters explained that the bridge malfunction was caused by a circuit anomaly, and reassured the public that the issue was resolved within an hour.
Some onlookers humorously remarked that this was a particularly rare and special performance. Considering everything was quickly repaired, you could say it is all water under the bridge.
