The Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that it is closely monitoring the progress of a U.S. budget bill that intends to provide military financing to Taiwan.

The bill, which is set to be reviewed by the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, includes $500 million in Foreign Military Financing and up to $2 billion in loans and loan guarantees to bolster Taiwan's deterrence capabilities across the Taiwan Strait. Committee Chairman Tom Cole says the bill reinforces the role of the U.S. as a world leader and reaffirms America’s commitment to confronting the increasing threat of authoritarianism.

The ministry highlighted the long-standing bipartisan support from the U.S. Congress and expressed gratitude for their continued support of Taiwan. Deputy spokesman Hsiao Kuang-wei (蕭光偉) says that the bipartisan support Taiwan receives from the U.S. is evident and that the ministry intends to continue cooperation with allies from various sectors in the U.S. based on the solid and friendly foundation of Taiwan-U.S. relations.
