Taiwanese national Kao Man-jung (高曼容) has been crowned the winner of Miss Glam World 2024. Kao took to Facebook on Monday to state that beauty has been a force of power that catapulted her from ordinary girl to international pageant winner, and give words of encouragement to her followers.
Kao was born in Nantou County and is well known for being a baseball team cheerleader. She says that beauty pageants are not as superficial as people once thought they were, and competitors are also critiqued based on conditions such as their international outlook, wisdom, courage, talent, popularity, and demeanor. Kao shared that nothing was as simple as it seemed, and that she believes it is a win for Taiwan.
Kao had previously been brought to tears during a dispute over Miss Asia Global activities in Malaysia in 2022 when China barred Kao from waving the Taiwanese flag on stage alongside other international models.
Kao choked back tears yet again at the finale of Miss Glam World 2024, albeit for an entirely different reason. The emcee announced the winner as “Taiwan,” which marks Kao’s first global title since she started competing in pageants 11 years ago. Alongside Kao in the top three were first runner-up Brazilian national Lara Vitoria Gama and second runner-up Indian national Debasmita.
