An anonymous media insider has revealed to the Liberty Times that China's state-run Xinhua News Agency has been involved in the production of a Taiwanese political commentary program.

According to the Liberty Times, Xinhua News Agency's Taiwan correspondent played a significant role in shaping the show's topics and scripts. The correspondent reportedly monitored the studio during recording sessions, attempting to exert influence over Taiwan’s politics through local media. The TV station responsible for the program has denied these allegations, but the controversy persists.

In an interview before attending interpellations at the Legislature on Tuesday,  Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) commented that he is not familiar with the operations of the TV station, and that such matters should be handled by law enforcement agencies. Cho emphasized that this controversy underscores the importance of the National Communication Committee (NCC). He urged the Legislature to approve the nomination of new NCC commissioners to ensure the committee can carry out its duties effectively.
