The Cabinet has announced the public holiday schedule for 2025, revealing great news. With weekends, 2025 will see a total of 115 days off, which includes six extended holidays lasting 3-days or longer. The crown jewel of the announcement is the Lunar New Year holiday, which begins January 25 and lasts a total of 9 days. As for makeup days? The government has only announced one, on February 8, to make up for the Monday before LNY.
How are you planning to request leave? By taking 2 days after January 1st, you can get a 5 day weekend. Or if you like warmer weather, pull a similar scheme in March and April over the tomb sweeping holidays. If fall is your favorite, you can make 10-10 and Mid-Autumn Festival into a nine-day getaway. It seems 2025 will be all about strategy when it comes to taking time off.
So far travel bloggers have recommended trips to places like Daegu and Busan in March and April due to seasonal affordability. With such generous public holidays, there should be plenty of time not only to enjoy yourself but also to purchase souvenirs. Taiwan has recently improved tourism relations with neighboring countries like Korea and Japan, so visitors should be sure to look for travel deals.
Other recommendations include Southeast Asia for spring and fall and Europe during the Mid-Autumn festival and 10-10 dates to enjoy the changing leaves.
Especially when it comes to traveling, more time and money are always welcome. In 2025, don’t trip up requesting your days off or someone will getaway with your getaway.
