Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) attended Chunghwa Telecom’s (CHT) 28th anniversary and outstanding personnel recognition ceremony this Monday. Hsiao recognized the telecom service provider’s contributions to domestic telecommunications, and expressed her hope that the company will continue strengthening their international presence.
Hsiao explained that CHT serves more than just the general public; they also assist many overseas units with maintenance and network security. Last year, Hsiao and CHT Chair Kuo Shui-yi (郭水義) jointly held a bell-ringing ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of CHT’s New York Stock Exchange listing in the United States. The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index also recognized CHT as number one for world-class telecommunication sustainability leaders in 2023.
Hsiao shared that CHT has been developing Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites over the past few years, collaborating with other international organizations to provide solutions for governments, enterprises, and individuals across Taiwan.
Hsiao underlined the precedent that CHT has set for Taiwanese companies when it comes to net-zero emissions, and added that CHT has assisted the government in combating fraud. She said she hopes CHT will continue strengthening its international presence by going global, exploring the international market, and providing overseas Taiwanese businessmen with the communication services they need.
