President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) welcomed a delegation of the Spanish language National Development Course (NDC) participants at the Presidential Office on Thursday. The participants included high-ranking officers, police officers, and civil servants from Belize, Paraguay, and many other Spanish-speaking countries.

Lai noted that the NDC represents close cooperation in military and security issues between Taiwan and friendly nations. Lai highlighted the People's Republic of China’s (PRC) escalating threats to regional stability and its encroachments into the Taiwan Strait and surrounding areas, both of which have posed challenges to global democracy.

He explained that as Taiwan’s president and commander-in-chief, he has a mission to ensure the country’s development, survival, and the safety of its people. He also stated that Taiwan will continue to enhance its defense capabilities and collaborate with other democratic countries to safeguard the peace and stability of the region.

Lai expressed his hope that through the NDC, Taiwan can share more of its experiences with other countries. He also encouraged participants to learn from one another and become a key force in promoting international peace and stability.
