A four-day summer travel expo kicks off this Friday in Taipei and is set to be the largest cross-strait event to take place since the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 155 Chinese representatives will be in attendance at the event taking place at the Taipei World Trade Center from July 12 to 15.
The attending delegation includes those from 12 Chinese provinces and cities and 8 airlines and private tourism companies. Representatives from both China and Taiwan spoke at the opening ceremony. Chinese delegation leader and Anhui’s tourism association deputy head Wang Jing (王靖) said Taiwan and Anhui share a long-standing relationship, mentioning that Taiwan’s first governor Liu Ming-chuan, was from Anhui. He added that the Anhui tourism association will take part in hosting the 10th Intangible Cultural Heritage Night in Kaohsiung this October, welcoming everyone to attend.
Former Taiwan Tourism Bureau director-general and current Taiwan Tourism Interchange Association (TTIA) Chairperson Janice Lai (賴瑟珍) took to the stage to thank officials from both sides of the Taiwan Strait for making the event possible. She also expressed her hope that this will serve as an opportunity to open up more cross-strait tourism exchanges.
The “Cross-strait Taipei Summer Travel Fair” is organized by the Association for Tourism Exchange Across the Taiwan Straits in Taipei and TTIA.
