The 47th Wanan Air Defense Drill is scheduled to take place from July 22 to 25 across Taiwan with a different area practicing drill protocol on each day. Each region will practice in the following order: central region on Monday, northern region on Tuesday, eastern region and outlying islands on Wednesday, and southern regions on Thursday.
During the drill time, a warning alarm will sound from 13:00 to 14:00, and evacuations and traffic control will be implemented.
Besides issuing air raid alarms on the day of the exercise, messages will be broadcasted through TV, radio, village announcements, school systems, police patrol vehicles, as well as via the "Air Threat Warning System" to mobile phones.
During the exercise, all government agencies, military units, schools, organizations, and the public must comply with the controls. Failure to do so may result in a fine ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$150,000.
Drivers should remain calm during the drill, follow the directions of the police and civil defense personnel, and comply with people and vehicle control measures. Vehicles in key verification areas must pull over to a safe spot and all those inside should exit the vehicle. Drivers and passengers should follow the guidance of the police and civil defense personnel to enter nearby air raid shelters.
After the air raid alarm is lifted on the day, from 14:00 to 14:30, local governments and civil defense teams will set up the "Wartime Disaster Relief Shelter" and conduct related disaster relief drills.
