According to 104's survey, the highest-paying regions for freshmen are, in order, Hsinchu County, NT$37,000; Taipei City, NT$36,500; New Taipei City and Taoyuan City, NT$36,000; and Keelung City, NT$35,500. (Photo courtesy of 104 Job Bank)

A survey released by the HR consulting company 104 Job Bank Tuesday announced up-to-date information about the job market, especially for new graduates.

104 Job Bank examined 97,000 job vacancies posted between January to July. After compiling and comparing salaries on offer, they found the median salary for freshmen to be NT$35,500 (about US$1,085) – about NT$500 (US$15) more than 2023. 104 Job Bank Senior Deputy Manager and Human Resources Officer Weber Chung (鍾文雄) said that this is due to an ongoing worker shortage; as the economy continues to develop, companies are willing to spend more resources to recruit talent.

The survey found that, regionally, the highest paying areas listed in descending order were Hsinchu County and City, Taipei City, New Taipei and Taoyuan City, and Keelung City. However, taking cost of living into account, Nantou County was the region where workers could save the most money.

The six highest paying industries for new graduates included medical services, semiconductors, software and networking, construction and civil engineering, real estate, and computer and electronics manufacturing. Among the highest-paid positions were process planning, software engineering, medical professions, engineering research and development, and construction and construction planning.
