Qixi, also known as Chinese Valentine’s Day, celebrating midsummer takes place on Saturday, August 10th. Honoring the Han dynasty tale of star-crossed lovers, the celebration will culminate in the evening with a dazzling display of “Love Song 140” themed fireworks at the Dadaocheng Wharf in Taipei.

The fireworks are part of the popular Taipei Summer Festival and also mark the culmination of the month-long event. Additional features include music, entertainment, illuminations, art displays, food and refreshment.

This evening’s show will take place over the Tamsui River and can be viewed around Taipei Riverside Park and Dadaocheng Wharf in Datong district. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 8 pm and are expected to draw large crowds. Onlookers are encouraged to leave themselves time and arrive early.
