Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) presided over the opening ceremony of the 2024 Creative Expo Taiwan at the International Convention Center Tainan (ICC Tainan) on Monday.

In her remarks, Hsiao expressed her joy at returning to her hometown, Tainan, a city rich with cherished memories and cultural history. She described the expo as a key indicator of Taiwan’s creative industry and cultural soft power. She said she hopes the event would allow visitors and business partners, both domestic and international, to appreciate the depth of Taiwan’s cultural issues. She also expressed her desire for the event to showcase the Taiwanese people's pride in their culture and to enrich the experiences of all participants.

Cultural Minister Li Yuan (李遠) noted that the year’s theme, “Hundred Faces of the Treasure Island,” aptly reflects Taiwan’s evolving reality and the ongoing exploration of its changing identity. He invited everyone to engage with the event and collaborate to amplify its significance.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) remarked that this is the first time the expo has been held in Tainan, and he welcomed many young artists and innovators to participate and showcase their best works at the event.

The event, which begins on September 1 and runs for 10 days, will feature curated exhibitions, guided walking tours, and many other activities at multiple venues, including the ICC Tainan, Tainan Cultural and Creative Park, 321 Art Alley Settlement, and others.
