Taiwan’s 93rd Armed Forces Day is next Tuesday, September 3. In celebration, the Defense Ministry will be hosting events, various companies will be offering discounts, and Kuai Kuai will release a limited-edition snack to be sold nationwide. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will be presenting awards at the main commendation ceremony this Friday.

The Defense Ministry’s activities will include a recognition ceremony, a baseball event, Taipei 101 military honors, and more. Ministry representatives say they hope the activities will help the public appreciate the dedication of the armed forces and reinforce unity between civilians and the military.

Nearly 9,000 stores and 169 companies including the E-DA Theme Park, Hi-Life, and Vieshow Cinemas have indicated their intentions to provide discounts and benefits for military members, which can be cashed in on by providing identification or being in uniform.

Kuai Kuai, a Taiwanese food production company, has also released a limited-edition military version of their popular snack of the same name to be sold on bases and in the grocery store Carrefour. The snacks are adorned in a pixelated camouflage package and feature cartoon depictions of several military personnel.

Cultural and Psychological Warfare Department Director Lou Wei-chieh (樓偉傑) says he hopes the celebratory activities will help boost morale and garner citizens’ respect and love for the military. He says the entire month of September will be filled with a strong military presence and patriotism. Lou adds that forces will continue to do everything in their power to protect Taiwan, its democracy, and its freedom.
