While attending the laureate ceremony of Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) on Friday, Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) emphasized the institute's crucial role as the hub for nurturing and transferring Taiwan’s technological and industrial development. She expressed her gratitude to the ITRI research fellows, scientists, and industry leaders for making Taiwan indispensable on the international stage.
The 13th ITRI Laureate Ceremony saw five new members inducted, including NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳), Advanced Micro Device (AMD) Chairperson and CEO Dr. Lisa Su (蘇姿丰), Global Wafer Chairperson Doris Hsu (徐秀蘭), Acer Chairperson and CEO Jason Chen (陳俊聖), and Taichung Veterans General Hospital Director Chen Shih-ann (陳適安). Huang and Su were unable to attend and conveyed their gratitude via pre-recorded videos.
In her remarks, Vice President Hsiao notes that technological strength is the nation’s competitive edge while also highlighting the complexity of Taiwan’s place in international geopolitics, economics, and AI revolution of our time. With the foundation laid by ITRI's innovation and the global partnerships its fostered, Hsiao is confident in Taiwan's ability to navigate the challenging environment of the world stage.
