Taiwan will be bringing home six gold medals, two silver, and one bronze from the 2024 Tug of War World Championship in Germany, smashing previous records. 93 Taiwanese players were entered into the competition that ran from September 5 to 8.
Chinese Taipei Tug of War Association (CTTWA) Secretary-General Zhuo Yao-peng (卓耀鵬) elaborated that special competition training which has proven effective in improving muscle endurance in previous games was employed for the teams this year. CTTWA Chairman Chen Chien-ping (陳建平) said he also closely followed Taiwan's progress in the competition, paying close attention to player health. He expressed his happiness over the teams delivering the best results in Taiwan’s history.
The teams also had the important task of obtaining entry into the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China by fulfilling the prerequisite of placing in the top four. The women's 500kg group succeeded and will be competing for their 6th consecutive world championship. The mixed men's and women's 580 kg, which ranked 8th, and the men's 640 kg, which ranked 9th, failed to qualify.
