The Taiwan Film Salon 2024 is taking place at Vietnam’s National Cinema Center in Hanoi from September 8 to 14. Taiwan’s Representative to Vietnam Richard Shih (石瑞琦) noted that this is the third consecutive year the event has been held since 2020. He emphasized that the salon features six critically acclaimed Taiwanese films and highlighted the importance of fostering cultural exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam.

The event also features the comedy “Marry My Dead Body” starring Greg Hsu (許光漢) who is widely regarded as the “ideal boyfriend” by many Vietnamese fans. Vietnamese audience member Trinh Thu Huang, who has faithfully attended the event since it began, revealed that she is a fan of Hsu. She praised the film and said its portrayal of same-sex romance captured a wide range of human emotions and holds special significance in Vietnam. She acknowledged that while her parents' generation may find such topics unacceptable, discussions on these issues are becoming more open in Vietnamese society. She believes the film will shift perceptions and hopes the event will continue annually, featuring even more Taiwanese films.

After the screening of “Marry My Dead Body,” director Cheng Wei-hao (程偉豪) made a surprise appearance via a short video, urging viewers to challenge stereotypes and recognize that love transcends gender and sexuality.
