Taiwan’s Chiayi County, known for its beautiful mountains, lakes, and coastline, also offers a wide array of local delicacies, from coffee and tea to seasonal seafood.
In an effort to promote local businesses and attract visitors, the government is hosting a shopping festival, integrating specialties from 16 major tourist hotspots throughout the county.
Caramelized sweet potatoes, aromatic stew, and their famous chicken giblets are among the culinary highlights at the festival.
Chiayi County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) personally showed up to support local businesses and have a ball with festival goers.
There is also a raffle draw for shoppers spending over a set amount, with prizes ranging from iPhones and electric scooters to cars.
The event is expected to drive sales surpassing $400 million NTD, and attract more visitors to Chiayi County.
