In celebration of International Podcast Day, Radio Taiwan International (Rti) launched a new Arabic podcast titled "Hello from Taiwan" on Monday. The podcast aims to attract the interest of Arabic-speaking listeners to Taiwan and its culture, economy, and education.
Rti’s president Chang Jui-Chang (張瑞昌) noted that Rti started broadcasting in Arabic as early as 1950 but had to suspend Arabic programming in 2005 due to budgetary constraints. He adds that it was only in May 2021 that the Rti Arabic Facebook page was launched, which has since gained over 10,000 followers. President Chang said Rti’s Arabic service aims to play a larger role in fostering exchanges given the growing relationship between the Arab world and Taiwan.
Hosted by Tu Mei-sheng (杜美聲), the podcast introduces Taiwan and shares insights into the lives of Muslims in Taiwan. The show also provides perspectives on how Arabs view Taiwan.
