The Taipei Representative Office in Slovakia participated in the "Run to the Clouds" (Beh Do Oblakov) marathon event in Bojnice, Slovakia. This participation marks a significant step in Taiwan's endeavors to promote grassroots and sports diplomacy with its European partners.
Taiwan's Representative to Slovakia David Nan-yang Lee (李南陽) participated in the 5-kilometer Nordic walking competition and joined Opatovce nad Nitrou Mayor Dana Melisková in presenting awards to the winners. The event showcased growing ties between Taiwan and Slovakia that reach beyond traditional diplomatic channels.
Lee emphasized that while these two countries have achieved remarkable success in technological collaborations, diplomacy should be a symbiosis between economic partnerships and community engagement. Lee expressed his commitment to deepening Taiwan’s connections with Central European countries through diverse means.
According to Lee, the marathon exemplifies how sports can bring people together across national and cultural boundaries, allowing Taiwan to display its vitality and capabilities on the global stage.
