Military trucks, humvees, and a range of armored vehicles were seen speeding down city streets during Taiwan’s seven-day Chang Tai 19 military exercise.
Taiwan’s seven-day Chang Tai (長泰) 19 military exercise commenced with a striking display of tanks and armored vehicles departing from bases with soldiers and police directing traffic at intersections. Onlookers were captivated, with many stopping on the road to marvel at military trucks, humvees, and a range of armored vehicles speeding down city streets.
The Army’s 333rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade conducted their second day of exercises in the southern county of Changhua, moving northward to engage in live combat exercises with the 586th Brigade of the 10th Army Corps in central Taiwan.
However, midway through the exercise, a tank appeared to have broken down, halting on the roadside for emergency repairs. According to military sources, the vehicle was found to have a warning light malfunction, prompting a quick roadside check before resuming its mission.
Led by the 6th Army Corps, this year’s Chang Tai 19 exercises include cross-regional combat between joint battalions from central and southern Taiwan. The tactical maneuvers began on October 26 and are set to continue through November 1, although they may be shortened due to Typhoon Kong-rey.
The exercise aims to enhance the military’s abilities in command, control, communications, and logistical support. However, the brief roadside breakdown unexpectedly became a hot topic among spectators.
