Taiwan’s drone industry visited Latvia for the first time to participate in a business matchmaking conference where they signed an MOU emphasizing international cooperation.
The delegation included 47 business executives and government representatives from aerospace, electronics, and other fields making the largest economic and trade delegation from Taiwan to Latvia in history. The conference, co-organized by the Latvian representative office, and the Latvian Federation of Defense and Security Industries (FSDI), took place in Riga, Latvia on Tuesday. In addition to the Taiwanese delegation, the conference attracted more than 120 participants from 33 drone manufacturers, industry associates, Latvian and Estonian government officials, and foreign envoys.
Latvian and Estonian Representative Andrew H.C. Lee (李憲章) pointed out in a speech that in the face of growing international troubles, Taiwan’s drone delegation to Latvia demonstrates both a commitment to deepening cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries, and the strategic importance of building democratic and key industry supply chains. Lee further said Taiwan is a valuable partner thanks to its advantages in information and communication technology, and the semiconductor industry.
At the conference, Drone Alliance and Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Hu Kai-Hung (胡開宏) represented Taiwan, signing a memorandum of cooperation with the FSDI to begin bilateral cooperation concerning drones and related technologies.
The Taiwanese delegation left Latvia for Lithuania Wednesday morning, and will be led by Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) on continuing business exhibitions and industrial visits.
