The Economic Ministry’s International Trade Administration (ITA) announced on Monday that in 2024 it assisted 5,795 domestic small and medium-sized enterprises in reducing carbon emissions and moving toward digitalization and low-carbonization. Not only has the Taiwan industry's carbon reduction effect exceeded 100 metric tons but it has also obtained 50 International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications related to energy and carbon reduction, marking it one of the best in Asia. The ITA pointed out that this coaching program, begun in 2023, should create business revenues of up to US$50 million, 40% higher than last year.

The Foreign Trade Bureau also stated it will be focusing on carbon-reducing packaging design for export products, including food, industrial, household, medical, cosmetics, cultural, stationery, gifts, and other products. Foreign Trade Bureau Director Chiang Wen-jo (江文若) elaborated that, for instance, carton packaging materials can be repackaged into cat products, which, compared with simple recycling, can reduce their carbon footprint by more than 700 kilograms. She reiterated that Taiwan should be proud to lead Asia by example.
