The Foreign Ministry (MOFA) announced on Thursday that Secretary-General Daniel Tang (唐殿文) welcomed an envoy from the Amitofo Care Center International (ACC), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in Africa. The group included children from ACC’s Eswatini branch.
The children performed music in Taiwanese Hokkien, indigenous Bunun, and traditional Swazi, as well as martial arts, reflecting their education and connection to Taiwanese culture. Secretary-General Tang commended ACC for its role in strengthening Taiwan-Africa cultural exchange and expressed gratitude for its dedication to Africa. He also emphasized MOFA’s commitment to supporting ACC’s overseas Chinese language teaching project, which has enhanced education for African children and served as a vital cultural bridge.
ACC founder Ven. Hui-li (慧禮) thanked MOFA for its continued backing, sharing plans to expand the organization with two new centers in Africa. She highlighted ACC’s mission to provide hope and opportunities for disadvantaged children while promoting Taiwanese culture.
Founded in Taiwan, ACC operates seven centers across Africa, caring for over 2,300 orphans annually and supporting nearly 20,000 disadvantaged children. It also assists African students in pursuing higher education in Taiwan, fostering enduring cross-cultural ties.
