This year's Christmas highlights include Christmas trees, which will shine above the clouds.

Taiwan’s highest Christmas tree is set to illuminate the Lishan Scenic Area, located at an impressive altitude of 2,000 meters in Taichung County. The Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area's 2024 Lishan Guguan Light Art Festival will feature Christmas trees that promise to be the most elevated in the country.

The main Christmas trees, situated in front of the Lishan Guesthouse will shine brightly from Thursday until February 19th, continuing through the Lunar New Year night.

Additionally, the Guguan area will transform into a Christmas village, recreating a fairy-tale Japanese landscape with white sparkling lights that evoke the atmosphere of a romantic snow country. Visitors can find here a whimsical winter wonderland featuring three-dimensional snow houses, Christmas trees, snowmen, and reindeer, all arranged with brilliant white lights.

The area’s management enthusiastically welcomes visitors to enjoy the lights, hot springs, Maple Valley, and local honey apples in the season.

The Wufeng District of Taichung has been approved by the Cabinet for inclusion in a national scenic area. Key sites include the Wufeng Lin Family Park, Democratic Assembly Affairs Park, GuangFu New Village, and the 921 Earthquake Museum.

Local residents are excited about a new development aimed at boosting tourism. Management is seeking a location for a visitor center to serve as a transit point for travelers to popular spots like Sun Moon Lake, Xitou, and Hehuanshan, which could revitalize central Taiwan's domestic tourism industry.
