Tainan’s annual Christmas and New Year’s celebration festivities, known as the “Tainan Hao Young” celebrations have finally been announced. The activities will last the month of December through New Year's Eve, balancing music and fun for the whole family.

It’s not every government press release that starts with a dance, but the festive atmosphere was well at home as Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) did the “Three Strikes Dance” alongside Rakutan Girls Captain Lan Lan. However, as they both proceeded to announce Tainan’s annual Christmas and New Year’s celebration performances, one couldn’t help but feel it a fitting tribute.
Tainan City’s annual “Tainan Hao Young” celebrations kick off next month, and the much-anticipated events have been well received in the past for their variety and inclusivity. On that note, Mayor Huang announced that this year, there will be a total of three parent-child activities in the month of December– up from last year’s two.
Last year Tainan’s New Year’s Eve celebrations included a cast of 15 performers from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong as well as a 3-minute fireworks show attracting a total of 250,000 attendees. This year, Mayor Huang elaborated that the city wanted to take a more welcoming route to the new year by increasing the amount of family-focused events.
While the full roster of performers for this year's events has not yet been made public, the organizers announced that the “Rock ‘n Roll Christmas Concert” will feature 5 all-star performers including W0LF(S), Golden Melody award winner Mixer, local diva Ivy Lee, and KKBox top 100 singers Hua Chen and Bettii.
