The Taipei City Government officially confirmed on Wednesday the schedule of the Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum. This year’s forum, to be hosted in Taipei on December 17, marks the first under Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安).

The city government said the forum focuses on fostering urban development efforts with Shanghai under the principles of equality, dignity, goodwill, and reciprocity, which also aligns with the vision of “Better Cities, Better Cross-Strait Relations.”

Taipei City Government Spokesperson Yin Wei (殷瑋) said the theme of this year’s forum will be “Smart Governance, Sustainable Future,” with three secondary forums, including "friendly transportation," "river management" and "cultural tourism."

During the forum, Taipei and Shanghai will also sign two Memorandums of Understanding. One on smart healthcare collaboration and another on the conservation and exchange of red pandas between Taipei Zoo and Shanghai Zoo. Shanghai’s deputy mayor will be leading the Shanghai delegation attending the event.

The Taipei City Government expressed hopes to continue fostering practical and positive exchanges between the two cities, enhancing public welfare while furthering the vision of harmonious cross-strait relations.
